A more detailed look & refinement of selected potential directions.

The final sketch phase in our process.  Products are rendered to emulate construction details, materials, trims, colors and finishes.  Once reviewed with the client, we confirm direction and move into formal tech packs.

Full blown construction details that serve as a blueprint for the pattern-makers to build the product.  These range from a simple sketch with callouts to extremely complicated 20 page documents.

One of the most interesting aspects of designing soft goods is getting into the fabrication.  There are a wealth of fabrics & trims available and occasionally we get to design custom elements.  Plastic trims, metal details, coated fabrics, compression molded panels, welded construction, synthetic and natural fibers are a few of note.  We work directly with vendors to properly execute each component of the product.  Different materials require their own manufacturing methods which leads into the development phase.

Often overlooked by designers, product development is one of the most important and time consuming part of the process.  We work with our clients to meet their needs.  Most clients ask that we handle the factory development process from spec handover to pre-production samples.  This includes sample comments for each round, strike off approvals, factory visits, and daily email & skype correspondence.  We have strong relationships with many factories in Southeast Asia.

Coming soon, we will be offering in house sample development services to rapidly speed up the process.  Working through patterning and construction issues in the same room often leads to better solution and elevated product..
